Stained Glass

Joyanne Matthes first came to Colorado in 1989 to visit a friend.  She

 was a full-time RV’r and was looking to find a new home and life-style.  She

 fell in love with Estes Park and the majestic views of the mountains.

Deciding to stay in Estes Park for a while a business opportunity presented

 itself and she purchased the town pet shop in 1991.  Seeing a need for dog

grooming she took lessons from a local retired pet groomer and it soon

became an enjoyable and challenging profession.   Joyanne’s business partner

at that time (husband) helped with the rest of the business tackling the

supplies and business details.

 

After the first year in the pet business Joyanne decided to breed

Gloster Canaries.  She was blessed with many male chicks whose

 “song” was outstanding and made her bird-buying customer’s very happy.

            In 1992 Joyanne bought a historic cabin in Allenspark where she now

resides.  The cabin was built in 1929.  Throughout the years much work has

been done to restore and winterize the cabin and it is now quite comfortable

to live in all year round.

 After 7 years in the pet and dog/cat grooming business Joyanne was

at the age of retirement and sold the business.  After a few years of

retirement and cabin improvements she decided to try the art field and

chose stained glass.  In 2004 she took stained glass lessons and found

working with glass and the brilliant colors enhanced her life and spirit.

  Joyanne enjoys the challenges of creating new and colorful stained

glass projects hoping her work will touch the spirit and heart of others.

            Joyanne has 2 children –  A son who is in heaven and a daughter, 4

grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who live in California.  She also has

2 Cocker spaniels, Sara and Rachel who are a lot of fun and adorable.

Joyanne does custom stained glass of your favorite pet. 

  The size of the panels are 18" by 24".
