Martial Arts Introductory Training Session– Tammy Ackerman will be offering a 4-week session in Martial Arts starting Saturday, February 26 from 10:00-11:30  1st week basic blocks, strikes, kicks, 2nd week defending against choke holds, lapel grabs, wrist grabs, 3rd week defending against club attacks, 4th week defending against knives. Tammy has trained in the Shaolin Chaun Fa discipline for over 7 years, receiving her Black Belt in March of 2009.  The Shaolin Monks have a strict practice of separation between martial arts training and religion, so the training will be strictly martial arts.  This training is invigorating, liberating and intense, increasing self discipline and self confidence. It's also a blast!  Cost is $40 for the 4-week session. Contact: 303-747-111.

 

Group Voice Classes - DISCOVER YOUR JOY TO SING!  Have you a secret - or not so secret - desire to express yourself through singing, but are you afraid or too unsure to let your inner diva/divo out in public?  This class will meet for 4-6 weeks on Saturdays from 4:00-5:00.   Certified CoreSinging (TM) Teacher Betsy Skinner will guide participants through playful and imaginative exercises, developing a positive relationship with their voice, transforming the fear of singing and performance into the joy in sharing. The CoreSinging approach is non-threatening, emphasizing fun, play and the use of the imagination.
     Singer, teacher, director, author, and a frequent presenter at workshops and voice conferences around the nation and in Europe, Betsy is one of the first 7 voice teachers in the US to be trained as a Certified CoreSinging Teacher.

YOGA INFO:   Lori Flynn is the potential new yoga teacher.
 
She is going to come up next Wednesday night, the 20th and teach a class - so she can get a feel for the Old Gallery and so we can get a feel for her.
 
Here's a little info on her:  She lives in Lyons.
 
'I am a Colorado native, just moved back from five years on the west coast where I lived in Santa Barbara and Malibu, off grid, studying permaculture, yoga, meditation and astronomy. I completed my yoga training at Kripalu in Massachusetts. I absolutely love smaller classes in tucked away places!  I would love to speak with you about taking over Allison's class, perhaps meeting the group of students that she works with.'

Peggy Donahue/PachaMama is a thirty-nine year resident of Allenspark/Wild Basin.  Peggy was certified to teach Hatha Yoga at the Shoshoni Ashram in Rollinsville, Colorado, and teaches Kundalini yoga, as well.  She has been practicing yoga for 30+ years.

       She completed her massage training and certification at the Crestone Healing Arts Center, in Crestone, Colorado.  This training places a great deal of emphasis on oriental healing philosophy and the energy aspect of holistic health, combined with a western approach.  Modalities covered include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Shiatsu, Jin Shin Acupressure/Tsubo, Reflexology, Raindrop Technique, Aromatherapy, Hydrotherapy and, of course, Integrated Massage.

Soup Nights will continue to be held on the first Tuesday of the month.  First Tuesdays are early these next few months, so be sure to mark your calendars!  January 3, February 1, March 1, and April 4.  Drop in anytime between 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  No need to bring anything – just come!  We’re looking for Soup Night hosts – contact Marta Dowell at msdowell123@gmail.com or 303-747-1717.  If you’re willing to bring soup, contact Marta.  Other contributions of bread, salad, dessert, and beverage are welcome, and if you’re able to bring your own dishes and silverware that’s a big help – but, again, this is just a time to come share a simple meal together.
